At Essex Powder Coating, we also refurbish steel wheels for cars, vans, trailers and commercial vehicles. Steel wheels can often become heavily corroded, rusty and pitted over time, but our refurbishment process can dramatically improve both their appearance and durability.

Our steel wheel refurbishment process includes:

• Tyre removal

• Full stripping and sand/media blasting

• Rust and corrosion removal

• Damage assessment and repairs where possible

• Priming and powder coating

• Final bake and cure

• Tyre refitting and balancing included

Steel wheels generally require more preparation work than alloy wheels due to the amount of rust, corrosion and heavier build-up often found on them. They usually spend longer in the sandblaster and need more prep work before coating can begin.

If steel wheels are buckled or damaged, repairs can also take longer than with alloy wheels due to the heavier material.

Please note that heavily corroded steel wheels may still show some pitting or marks after blasting and refurbishment. We always do our best to achieve the smoothest finish possible, but in some cases deeper pitting in the metal cannot be removed fully without affecting the strength of the wheel.

Even where some pitting remains, the finished result is usually a huge improvement and the powder coating will help protect the wheels from further corrosion.
