1. About This Policy

At Essex Powder Coating Ltd, we aim to provide high-quality powder coating, alloy wheel refurbishment, wheel repair and related services.

This policy explains how cancellations, returns, refunds and problems with completed work or physical products are handled.

Nothing in this policy limits or removes your statutory consumer rights.

2. Service Bookings

Our powder coating and refurbishment services are normally carried out specifically for the individual customer's wheels, components, selected colour and requested finish.

If you need to cancel or change a booking, please contact us as soon as possible.

Where possible, we ask customers to provide at least 24 hours' notice before a scheduled workshop appointment.

Before Work Has Started

If no work has begun and we have not incurred any specific costs for your booking, the booking can normally be cancelled without a service charge.

If special materials, colours or other items have already been ordered specifically for your job, reasonable costs already incurred may be deducted from any refund where permitted by law.

3. Cancellation After Work Has Started

If you request cancellation after work has begun, please contact us immediately.

Depending on the circumstances, you may be required to pay for:

  • Work already completed
  • Labour already provided
  • Materials already used or ordered specifically for the job
  • Other reasonable costs already incurred

Any amount retained will reflect the work or costs actually incurred and will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law.

4. Online and Distance Service Bookings

Where a consumer books an eligible service online, by telephone or through another distance-selling method, statutory cancellation rights may apply.

For eligible service contracts, customers will normally have 14 days from entering into the contract to exercise their statutory right to cancel.

If you specifically request that we begin work during this cancellation period, you may be required to pay a reasonable amount for the service already supplied if you subsequently cancel.

Where a service has been fully completed during the cancellation period following the customer's express request and the applicable legal requirements have been satisfied, the statutory cancellation right may end once the service has been fully performed.

5. Bespoke and Special-Order Work

Some work may involve:

  • A special-order powder colour
  • Customer-selected finishes
  • Custom preparation
  • Work carried out specifically to customer-owned wheels or parts
  • Materials purchased specifically for a particular job

Any special-order costs or deposit requirements will be made clear before the customer commits to the work.

Customisation does not affect your rights where a service has not been carried out with reasonable care and skill.

6. Problems With Our Workmanship

If you believe there is a problem with completed refurbishment or powder coating, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Please provide:

  • Your name
  • Booking, invoice or order details
  • A description of the problem
  • Photographs where helpful

We may need to inspect the wheel or item before determining the appropriate remedy.

If we confirm that there is a fault with our workmanship, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with your statutory rights. Depending on the circumstances, this may include rework, repair, recoating, a price reduction or refund where legally appropriate.

7. Existing Damage, Corrosion & Condition of Items

Used wheels and other metal components can have pre-existing damage or defects that may only become apparent once old coatings, paint, corrosion or contamination have been removed.

This may include cracks, previous repairs or welds, corrosion, pitting, porous castings, structural damage or other defects hidden beneath the existing finish.

If additional work is required after stripping or inspection, we will normally contact you before carrying out additional chargeable repairs.

Powder coating and refurbishment cannot always completely remove deep corrosion, pitting or defects already present in the underlying metal.

8. Damage After Collection

We are not responsible for damage that occurs after an item has been collected or delivered where that damage was not caused by our workmanship.

Examples may include:

  • Kerb or impact damage
  • Stone chips
  • Accident damage
  • Inappropriate chemical or acid cleaners
  • Incorrect fitting
  • Damage caused by subsequent repairs or modifications
  • Normal wear unrelated to our workmanship

This does not affect your statutory rights where a problem was caused by the service or goods supplied by us.

9. Returns of Physical Goods

Where Essex Powder Coating Ltd sells standard physical products online, consumers may have a statutory right to change their mind.

For eligible online purchases, you should normally tell us that you wish to cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods.

You then normally have a further 14 days to return the goods.

Before sending a return, please contact us:

Email: info@epcoating.co.uk
Phone: 07477 675850

We will provide or confirm the appropriate return instructions.

10. Condition of Returned Goods

Unless the goods are faulty, returned goods should be:

  • In an appropriate condition for return
  • Securely packaged
  • Accompanied by sufficient order information to identify the purchase
  • Handled only to the extent reasonably necessary to inspect them

Where permitted by law, a refund may be reduced if the value of goods has been diminished by handling beyond what would reasonably be expected when examining them.

11. Return Costs

For a standard change-of-mind return, the customer may be responsible for the cost of returning the goods where this has been made clear before purchase.

If we supplied an incorrect item or the goods are faulty, damaged or not as described, please contact us before arranging the return so that we can provide suitable instructions.

Your statutory rights relating to faulty goods are not affected.

12. Faulty, Incorrect or Damaged Goods

If physical goods supplied by us arrive faulty, incorrect, damaged or materially different from their description, please contact us as soon as possible.

Please provide:

  • Your order number
  • A description of the issue
  • Photographs where relevant

We recommend reporting visible delivery damage promptly so that we can also investigate the matter with the carrier.

A request to report visible damage quickly does not remove your statutory consumer rights.

13. Items That Cannot Normally Be Returned for Change of Mind

Certain items may not carry the normal change-of-mind cancellation right where legally exempt, including goods that have been made to the customer's specification or clearly personalised.

This does not remove your rights if an item is faulty, incorrectly supplied or not as described.

14. Refund Processing

Once a refund has been approved, it will normally be returned using the original payment method unless another lawful arrangement is agreed.

For eligible online goods cancellations, refunds will be processed within the applicable statutory timeframe. This will generally be within 14 days of receiving the returned goods or acceptable evidence that they have been returned.

For eligible cancelled service contracts, applicable refunds will normally be processed within the applicable statutory timeframe, subject to any lawful deduction for services already supplied at the customer's request.

Your bank or payment provider may require additional time before the refund appears in your account.

15. Refund of Delivery Charges

Where UK consumer law requires us to refund the original delivery charge following an eligible online goods cancellation, the refund will normally cover the cost of our least expensive standard delivery method.

Any additional amount paid because the customer selected an enhanced or more expensive delivery service may not be refundable beyond the standard delivery cost.
